4 European Spots for an Easter Break

I don’t know about you but I start thinking of a holiday the moment the New Year starts picking up again. Easter is a perfect time to get away as it’s usually around the time of spring breaks from school or university but if you’re looking to get away solo, as a couple or with friends it’s also a perfect pick-me-up for the first half of the year. For an Easter break that doesn’t crack the bank, Europe is only a hop, skip and a jump away and is perfect for a short, affordable and beautiful holiday.

  1. Ameins, France

Ameins is pretty damn stunning if I do say so myself. It’s a wonderful little hidden gem in France that lies at the basin of the River Somme. Perfectly romantic and peaceful, this quaint town features an astounding cathedral that is twice the size of Notre Dame. Don’t forget to devour delicious treats in the many patisseries that line the river to experience true French café culture.

  1. Lake Garda, Italy

Italy is renowned for its many stunning great lakes. An unmissable part of the country, Lake Garda offers beautiful views, winding cobbled lanes and a relaxing getaway for the spring time. Bask in the sunshine or take a road trip around the twisting tarmac that lines the mountains. Be sure to have European car insurance from a trusted company like Breakdown Solutions for a stress free driving experience.

  1. Plovdiv, Bulgaria

A perhaps less popular but no less impressive destination would be the historic city of Plovdiv in Bulgaria. Ideal for a celebration (a pint of beer is only 57p!), it’s a trendy city with fantastic nightlife. If partying isn’t your thing, Plovdiv is a melting pot of historic culture with an Ottoman mosque, a Roman amphitheatre and the Bachkovo Monastery to see.

  1. Athens, Greece

Athens is perfect in the Easter time as sunshine is guaranteed (unlike in the UK) and traditional culture celebrates Easter with large family gatherings of road goat and generous amounts of ouzo. The capital of Greece, Athens is the largest city so understandably has an overwhelming amount to offer. Whether you’d rather learn about ancient history or relax by the coast, you’re bound to find plenty to enjoy.

So what are you waiting for? There are daily cheap flights out to Europe from reliable airlines so plan your trip for a much-needed Easter break or jet-off for a spontaneous getaway this spring.
